    1. "The anaco of the indigenous people"
The Ecuadorian indigenous women's clothing is an essential part of their customs and traditions that have been maintained for generations and will endure over time.
In the Sierra, the anaco is a garment that distinguishes and highlights women in all their splendor. It is a kind of skirt that has its origin from the Quechua word ‘yanacu’ which means black place, which is why most women use the anaco of this color.
For the leader Pedro Aucatoma, the anaco was woven with sheep's wool thread, which was prepared in the indigenous communities. At present, these garments are kept in some communities and others have been replaced with synthetic fibers for their elaboration such as cashmere and even silk.
In Otavalo women use the color blue, red wine or brown, especially in young women. In the Saraguro canton in Loja, they wear two anacos at the same time, one white and the other dark. Single women cover their traditional white garment with black; instead, married women reveal a few inches of white to reveal their marital status. In Tungurahua, in Salasaca the black anaco is used which, in turn, is fastened to the waist with the ‘chumbi’ or multi-colored sash.
